The Battle between the Sexes: Ever since the introduction of women into the common everyday workplace, the roles between men and women have become blurred. Everyone seems to have their own personal concepts of what it means to be a woman and what it means to be a man, but the details are often in conflict.

Case in point: Men should not be afraid to show their emotions. Women like that. But do they? A man who is too emotional seems weak and ineffectual to most women. On the other hand, it's quite all right for women to strive for a career, and yet when children are involved, her motherly instincts should cause her to put the job second. It's okay though if a father attends to business. These are very generic examples and obviously won't apply to every situation, but it demonstrates how our society is a bit schizophrenic when it come to the roles of men and women.

There are physiological differences between the sexes that make women more intuitive than men, and men more logical. This is not to say that a woman can't demonstrate tremendous powers of logic. Nor should it suggest that men have little intuitive or emotional powers as well. Men and women can do any job equally well. They may use different styles, but they accomplish the same things. It's only a matter of time until women become common place in the boardrooms, CEO lists and halls of power.

But the differences between men and women are also the reason they can make such a strong union. The differences compliment each other, just as they do in the workplace. Realizing this relationship between our differences can be a tremendous benefit to our everyday lives. It can also help us to realize how our partner is thinking about a particular subject if we attempt to see it from the point of view of the opposite sex. Otherwise, we may be doomed to fight and argue about trivial things that basically boil down to a lack of understanding.

Everything Later In Life - Statistics show that the average American is waiting longer to get married and have a family. This has meant a number of different things to our society. An older groom and bride means a more affluent couple than in years past. The wedding industry has become big business as older couples often have more money to throw in to the pot.

These older couples do enter marriage at a more mature level than their younger counterparts, but they are also less apt to be wary of being on their own if things don't work out. They've been there and survived.

As women's biological clocks can tick pretty loud at times, there is also more pressure to have children sooner after marriage. The stress children put on a marriage can be tremendous. Some couples who haven't had too much single time before the experience can sometimes see their marriage fall by the wayside. Those couples who make a point of not forgetting they are a couple as well as parents, tend to show much higher success rates.

There are also a considerable pool of singles out there now with children. Whether it be because of divorce or choice, this raises more difficulties for the single parent. Not only is their workload much greater, but it also effects those whom they would like to date. Most people like children, but not all singles are ready to date a family. Thus prospective mates have yet one more test to pass. This situation has been occurring much more often these days and can be a formidable challenge to both parents and prospective mates. It's important for both people to be honest about what they are looking for as it will avoid many problems and heartaches in the future.
